Thai Yoga Massage
|
Thai Yoga MassageThai Yoga Massage is a fluid blend of yoga postures, deep stretching and pressure massage performed on a floor mat. No oils or creams are used. Both client and practitioner are fully clothed, dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility. In this unique healing system the practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga postures while using palms and thumbs along the body's energy lines (known as "Sen lines") and pressures points. Combined, these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system, balances the body energetically and renders the receiver in a state of general well-being, both physically and mentally. Practiced traditionally in Buddhist monasteries, the massage acts as a spiritual practice, a meditation which allows the practitioner to develop sensitivity and "tune in" to the needs of the patient. Each massage is adapted to the individual's needs and capacities and is suitable for mostly everybody regardless of their physical fitness level. It can be performed in a gentle relaxing manner and/or can apply strong muscular treatment. It adapts itself to all and respects the limits of each individual regardless of age or flexibility. The technique acts as both preventive and therapeutic. Receiving a Thai massage is like "having yoga done to you". HistoryCenturies ago, a dynamic bodywork therapy based on yoga and Indian ayurvedic medicine took form in the temples of Thailand. The founding father of Thai Massage (also called Nuad Bo-rarn) is said to have been Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, an ayurvedic doctor. After the death of Buddha, the earliest Buddhist monks who travelled to Southeast Asia were accompanied by Ayurvedic doctors. These doctors practiced a healing art that would later evolve into traditional Thai massage. How to Prepare• The massage is performed fully clothed.
